32BJ RALLIES ON GROUNDHOG DAY 2012 FOR JOBS AT THE HARTFORD COURANT

| 32BJ held another rally at the Hartford Courant on February 2, 2012 - Groundhog Day. The Courant was still adamant in replacing eight union janitors with a private contractor who offers lower wages and benefits and no union representation. Greater Hartford Labor Council Vice Presidents Juan Hernandez, Dave Roche, Geronimo Valdez and Paul Duff were there in Solidarity to show support. |

2011 LABOR HONOR ROLL RECOGNITION CEREMONY
|
| Carmen Boudier and Bill Hagan - two long-time Labor activists in the Hartford area - were honored November 2,2011 as the Greater Hartford Labor Council enrolled them in the Council's Honor Roll.
Retiring after 44 years of service to the members of New England Health Care Employees Union District 1199/SEIU, Carmen served as the Union's president since 2005. Over her long career she successfully fought to increase the power and raise the living standards of thousands of health care workers, especially employees of nursing homes, hospitals, group homes and state employees. She has been guided by her own experience where workers were treated “like they were a dime a dozen."
Bill Hagan, longtime delegate and Vice President of the Greater Hartford Central Labor Council, and Vice President of the Hartford Federation of Teachers, is a dedicated community and political activist who continues to fight for social justice and political power for those who oppose the forces of injustice.

NORTHEAST REGIONAL CLCs CONFERENCE April 12-13, 2011

| The MGM Grand Hotel on the Mashantucket Pequot Reservation was the site of the AFL-CIO's Northeast Regional Conference of State Federations, Area Labor Federations and Central Labor Councils on April 12-13, 2011. Greater Hartford Central Labor Council leaders where there to participate and learn from others. The theme: "Good Jobs Build Strong Communities". The 2-day event included plenary sessions devoted to moving Labor's agenda forward; state breakout sessions; peer-to-peer discussions; and a variety of workshops aimed at honing mobilizing and organizing skills. |

| Brian Petronella, President, UFCW Local371,and General Vice President,Connecticut AFL-CIO and Kip Lockhart, President of the Greater Hartford Central Labor Council from 1983 to 1995, were honored in a Greater Hartford Central Labor Council ceremony on November 3, 2010 as their names were added to the Council's Honor Roll which recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to working people in the Greater Hartford Central Labor Council's area. |

FALLEN BROTHERS OF TEAMSTERS LOCAL 1035 MEMORIALIZED
|
| The Bushnell Memorial in Hartford was the site for an August 15, 2010 memorial honoring the fallen Teamsters from Local 1035 at Hartford Distributors.
Hundreds of Teamsters, friends and families of the victims of this senseless tragedy, elected officials and others turned out for the event.
Among the speakers were Dave Peacock, president of Anheuser Busch, International Brotherhood of Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa, and Congressman John Larson. The ever-eloquent Larson read a letter from President Obama.The most moving words were said by 2 daughters of the victims, very courageous.

AFL-CIO YOUNG WORKERS' SUMMIT - June 10-13, 2010

| Greater Hartford Central Labor Council Vice Presidents Marsha McCurdy and Shane Allen were two of the 400-some participants at the first-ever AFL-CIO Young Workers Summit.
They were hard at work the weekend of June 10-13,2010 sharing their ideas with the AFL-CIO in Washington and with each other as they strategized ways to move the union movement forward.

| A permanent memorial was dedicated in Bushnell Park, Hartford in honor of Union Sisters and Brother who have lost their lives on the job. The dedication ceremony was held immediately follwing a ceremony held on the steps of the Connecticut State Capitol. |

FAT CAT TUESDAY - February 16, 2010

| Labor Council President Peggy Buchanan and Vice President Win Heimer joined in with the hardy band that braved the snow on Fat Tuesday to march to the Hartford headquarters of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association. With almost-real pitchforks, torches and placards in hand the group engaged in some street theater.
Accusing CBIA - dubbed "Corporations Before Individuals Always" -of protecting the interests of big business and big insurance in Connectcut and tying in with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that has spent millions to lobby against health care reform, the group sent a message: We can fix our health care system in a way that saves money, offers better choices and provides better care for all. It's time to get the job done right in D.C. so that there can be quality, affordable health care that we all can count on. |

WORKERS' MEMORIAL - BUSHNELL PARK, HARTFORD, CT

| "This monument is dedicated to the working men and women of Connecticut who are injured or killed on the job. It is our hope that the memorial will give comfort to those who mourn for their loved ones and will mark our commitment to fighting to improve health and safety laws to protect workers," said CT AFL-CIO President John Olsen at a groundbreaking ceremony held in April, 2009.

September 22, 2009 Demo for a Public Option in Healthcare

| Hundreds of workers, advocates, and consumers joined Connecticut Health Care for America Now partners to protest outside Aetna's headquarters in Hartford on September 22, 2009. The crowd- including delegates, members and officers of the Greater Hartford Labor Council- demanded to see the company’s CEO to ask him to sign a pledge in support of reforming the industry. The demonstration was one of dozens held across the country the same day to declare, "Big Insurance: Sick of It." |

| On November 5, 2008 six Labor leaders from the Greater Hartford area received recognition for their outstanding contributions to the Greater Hartford Labor Movement. Honorees were Danny Perez, Bob Martin, Merrilee Milstein, Judy Warfield, Bill O'Brien, and Dik Days. |
